How Do Cold Sore Spread?
You have probably heard of cold sores or the herpes simplex virus which is the medical name for it. This is a contagious skin disease that one gets in the upper regions of the body. The cold sores comes as a group of painful blisters that appear around the mouth area. They are filled with fluid, but quickly dry up and leave a scab that itches like crazy. You can also get herpes simplex virus on the lower region as well, but this is called the type II virus and we won’t focus on these in this article. Read on to find out about how these pestering cold sores spread.
The most common way to spread an cold sore infection is by saliva. Sharing a glass of water, spit or kissing are the main reasons for infecting another person. But there is still other ways to spread these blisters. If someone touch a sore with their hands, they might get the cold sore blisters on their hands and thus its quite easy spreading it to other parts of your body that you touch afterwards. So hands on a cold sore is a big no-no.
Still, there are several other ways one can get a cold sore, and these are all that well known. Did you for example know that some people can carry the virus on their skin for several weeks after they have ridden themselves of the virus? This should not be of any worry as it seldom happens, but it is possible to get a cold sore this way.
What is even more incredible is that some can be carrying the virus in their saliva and/or skin the whole time. They might have been able to adjust their immune system just enough to prevent the virus to be able to infect the person and thus it can carry the virus without even knowing it.
Now it is important to remember that it isnt all that easy to get infected and that one must have been really careless to actually get infected with the virus. It will for example not spread through linen, cloth, towels and such. Its important not to avoid the person who is infected alltogether when they are in need of treatment. If the unthinkable has happened and you get infected, there are several ways to cure your cold sores naturally. Check out Cold Sore Freedom In 3 Days for great tips on how to cure your cold sores in no time.
Can Children Have Cold Sores?
One thing that most people fail to realize is that children also are prone to get cold sores. Since we all know that this virus stays in your body for the rest of your life, its very upsetting to get it this early in ones life. Having to experience these at a young age is very unfortunate, bud sadly the possibility is there.
The cause of these cold sores are the virus herpes or the medical name Herpes Simplex. These are one of the most common viral infections in the world and thus many people experience them. There are two types of these viruses. The herpes simplex virus one (or HSV-1 for short) and HSV-2. HSV-1 is the most common of these and mostly these that people have and get cold sores from.
Kids should take the same precautions as adults when around people that have a cold sore. That means avoid kissing or touching the person. You should even refrain from drinking out of the very same glass, using the same utensils, and sharing towels and napkins. There is a high chance for the virus to survive in fabrics, which is why you should be very cautious.
For those who had had experienced cold sores, it is rather hard to tell what could possibly cause them to reappear. The causes vary from one child to another. For these group of children, it might be either because of too much stress and spending too much time in the sun. It could also be getting sick, like coming down with a cold or flu. What the children should do is to eat well, get enough rest. It is up to the parent to take care of these things as kids have lots of other things to think about and won’t think about such things all of the time.
There are still methods to cure cold sores, even with children and they are the same as with adults. The cold sores can be cured with all natural treatments and it doesn’t have to be costly. I recommend checking out Cold Sore Freedom In 3 Days which is a product that has helped thousands of people curing their cold sores and never having them again.
Tips For Healing Cold Sores
You all know about the cold sores by now I presume. They come, you curse them and wonder what you have done wrong in this life to deserve this pain. You have gone through this routine many times before and you know it by heart now. First it gets red, then itchy and finally the area puffs into a huge fever blister. There seems to be nothing that can stop these pestering cold sores. But fear not, I have some tips for what you can do to avoid these cold sores.
Protect The Cold Sore With Petroleum Jelly
Cover your cold sore with petroleum jelly. This speeds up the healing process significantly and relieves the pain also. Be sure not to dip back into the jelly with the same finger you used to touch your sore. It would be better to use fresh cotton buds.
Keep The Cold Sore Dry And Don’t Touch It
Rememeber not to touch the sore. This only irritates it and it will take it longer to be able to heal and it will ache even more. If it starts to puss, you should seek medical attention instead of trying to fix it yourself.
Give The Cold Sore A Zinc Treatment
Studies have shown that applying a water mix with zinc on the spot you feel the tingling, before your cold sore has broken out speeds up the healing process by a huge amount. This is because the DNA of the zinc matches up with the herpes virus and thus stops it from splitting up and spreading wider.
Block That Weather Out
One trigger of cold sores are extreme weather and thus you should protect your lips from this. Having a lip balm at hand is key to reduce this problem.
Cut Back Arginine-Rich Foods
The herpes virus needs arginine as an essential amino acid for its metabolism, so cut out foods such as chocolate, cola, peas, grain cereals, peanuts, gelatine, cashews and beer.
There are plenty of ways to get rid of cold sores, and many can be done from your home with all natural methods with no side effects. These methods are explained in Grace Melgarejo’s book Cold Sore Freedom In 3 Days that gives you a plan to be free from cold sores in less than 3 days. This book is simply amazing and the system has worked for thousands of people, including me. I recommend this to anyone having trouble with cold sores and I think you will have the same success I did.

Aloe Apply this when you start feeling a tingling on the affected area. This is important to start using before an outbreak as it is only effective now. Usually you carry with you some aloe gel in some form when you travel or have it in some skin creams, so it shouldnt be that hard to get a hold of.
Ice This will not only ease the pain, but also limit the outbreak. If you apply this right when you start feeling the tingling, your outbreak will be smaller and last for a shorter duration. Use an ice cube in a piece of cloth to avoid getting sores from the cold.

How To Stop Cold Sores: Is It Possible?
The cold sores are known to come up every now and then and particularly when you least need them, like right before big happenings like prom or marriage. This can be frustrating and may make you feel embarresed, but as we know, this only makes it worse. So is there a way to deal with this problem? Can we stop these blisters from appearing?
Stopping cold sores is not easy. It actually is impossible, as when you first have got them, the herpes simplex virus never gets out of your body. What you can do though is preventing the outbreaks from occuring, you can keep the virus at bay and hinder any new outbreaks, there is no permanent cure for this virus. So what we need to do is prevent an outbreak from taking place, and if an outbreak comes, take the necessary precautions.
The most important thing to do when you first have an outbreak is to put something cold on it to make the swelling less noticeable. You can use something you find in the fridge or an ice cube in a hankerchief. Put this on the area and the outbreak will not only become smaller, but will also last shorter.
After this you can use whatever treatment you find useful. I have found some good treatments in the book ’Cold Sore Freedom in 3 Days’. It contains lots of great cures and tips on how to cure the cold sores for good in a natural way.
So, remember that you cant permanently cure the cold sores, you can only prevent the outbreaks and do your best to cure it when it first comes out. Therefore, being up to date on the best methods to cure these pestering bacterias will lower the chance of them appearing and troubling your life again. Therefore, prevention is of utmost importance.
Myths About Cold Sores
There aren’t many people that know all that much about the virus herpes and cold sores in general and because of that a lot of myths easily arise. I have made a list of different myths that are common amongst people that don’t know any better and what the real fact of the matter is.
Myth 1 – When you catch a cold sore, you can’t do anything to make it go away
Its true that when you start feeling the symptoms of an outbreak you can’t make it dissapear, but there certainly are many measures one can take to be able to hinder the virus and speed the healing process significantly. As long as one knows what do to and are prepared for when the outbreak comes (this requires the person to know the symptoms of an outbreak), there is plenty of actions that can be taken to prevent the cold sore from erupting.
Myth 2 – With a cold comes a cold sore
Not an unreasonable thought given the name cold sore, but the fact is that those two are mostly not related. There are many other causes that trigger the outbreaks. Factors like stress, fatigue, weather, menstruation, exposure to the sun, even the food can be the cause of an outbreak. Which factors that causes the trigger for an virus are different from person to person. It would be a good idea when you start getting the symptoms for an outbreak to think back at what you have done lately. Are the work stressful? Have I been in the sun much lately? After a couple of times you might find a factor that are recurring and when you start avoiding it, you may never see the cold sore again.
Myth 3 – You can only get a cold sore if you kiss another person who carries it
Its true that cold sores are very contagious and its really easy to be infected. But a person that has the virus can only infect another person when they have an outbreak. This does not only include kissing, but also contact with the bacteria in some other way (i.e. one scratches on the blister and then touch another persons mouth). The blister is also only contagious during the outbreak. After it has settled and the sore has started the healing process its no longer contagious, but its generally better to be safe than sorry though.
Myth 4 – You can’t spread the cold sore to other parts of the body
When you have an outbreak, its imperative that you do not touch it. Its filled with bacterias and are extremely prone to infect whatever it gets near. Its best to leave the sore alone and if you have been touching it, its wise to wash your hands thoroughly. If you touch the sore and transfer the bacteria to your eyes, it may infect the eyes which can cause you to go blind in worst case scenarios. So being extra careful of ones hygiene during a cold sore outbreak is wanted, both for your own sake and those around you.
As weve seen are there many myths regarding cold sores and the treatment of it. People draw conclusions before they have gotten first hand experience with it or before they have asked proffesionals on the issue, which can lead to spreading of the virus. Being properly informed will not only keep the cold sores from spreading, but may also help people heal them faster and maybe even keep them from reappearing. To learn more about how one can treat these cold sores and to get more information regarding them, have a look at Cold Sore Freedom in 3 Days which is written by Mike Ramsey. He has helped several thousands get rid of their cold sore problems, and some havent gotten any outbreaks since then!
How Can You Prevent Cold Sores?
If you are one of the unfortunates to have caught the herpes simplex virus, then you are going to have to live with the risk of an outbreak at any time for the rest of your life. This may be a harsh fact to face, but believe me, there are many steps one can take to be able to reduce the amount of times the virus breaks out. So how can you prevent cold sores you might think, but fear not. There are plenty of steps that can be taken to prevent cold sores and I have made a list of things that are going to help keep these pestering blisters away.
The common man would say that you should lead a healthy life and you wont become sick. This offcourse goes for cold sores, and especially these viruses. Cold sores thrive upon weak immune systems and one should therefore do everything to keep it working properly. Factors in life like tiredness, stress and illnesses makes us weaker and that goes for our immune system aswell. Getting enough sleep is a factor that we easily can fix, but illnesses are something that mostly are out of our hands. To stay healthy, take vitamin supplement, eat healthy, excercise and be happy. Works for me and should for everyone else. Stress is a factor that we can do some work on. Ive already talked about it in my article Help For Cold Sores: Stress Relievers about how one can reduce stress in ones daily life.
Eating a healthy diet also is important to stay cold sore free. There are different types of food that are known to reduce the occurence of cold sore outbreaks. These are foods that include a lot of lysine and less of arginine. Therefore you should eat foods like:
- Dairy Products (milk, cheese, youghurt, etc)
- Legumes
- Fish
- Sprouts
All these are rich on lysine and should be enough to cover your daily need and even bring the cold sore to a halt. Its also important to avoid foods that are rich in arginine. Those are:
- Chocolate
- Nuts
- Oats
- Carob
- Soya Beans (not soy that are in tofu and soy milk)
For a more thorough list of products you can go here for more information on which products are good for your recovery from cold sores.
Preventing cold sores is a daunting task, but if one is prepared and have the right information at their disposal it will be much easier. Being able to get help from the food, almost having it work as medecine is a great thing. One should therefore not start shoving in unhealthy food when one feels sorry for themselves, but rather take action and try to get rid of the cold sore as soon as possible. If you would like to cure your sores even faster, Id recommend to check out Cold Sore Freedom in 3 Days, a site about how one can cure your cold sores as fast as 3 days! This has also been permanent for some, so definately worth checking out.
Treating A Cold Sore
As sad as it is, there is no cure for the herpes simplex virus, also known as HIV, and therefore there is no cure for the cold sores that you get, nor can you fully stop them for coming back. But there are ways of treating a cold sore, to help the healing process and to reduce the time that it is visible. By trying these methods, you might be able to get rid of the sore faster than it would on its own.
Its imperative to start the healing right away, even before the blister has broken out. When you start to feel a tingling or an itching motion around your mouth area, then that is the time to get ready to fight the virus. Find something that is really cold, ice works the best, and put it onto the spot that tingles. This will stop the virus from reproducing itself at an enourmous rate. That is what is happening when you feel the tingling. The virus comes to the surface and forces the nerve cells to reproduce the virus. This treatment will not prevent the virus, it will merely halt the reproduction and make the virus last for a shorter time and reduce the size of the blister.
Use the ice for as long as the itching are present and even when the spot starts to swell. Only after the wound opens up, ice no longer works as well because the healing process has started and ice only slows that down. If the wound are very swollen, ice can be put on to ease the pain. The smartest treatment at this point is to apply a cold sore cream of some sort and try to kill the dead cells of the virus so that one allows new cells to repair the wound. There are several products on the market that does the same trick, but a few good ones are Zovirax or Betadine. Remember to always consult a doctor or a pharmacist before trying any of these products.
Now for the final healing process, apply warmth to the blister so that blood flows more freely to the area. This speeds up the repairing severly and this can be done in many ways. Warm up a bowl of steaming water, put your head into the bowl, but not the water and put a towel over your head. This will also cleans your pores aswell as helping you keep your face warm. Other things are to use a cloth and dip it in hot water and put it onto the wound. Do whatever you like, just as long as you keep the wound warm and not get yourself burnt. Remember to not touch the wound and then other places to refrain from spreading the virus. Also dont expose yourself to the sun, this will only hamper the healing and might even induce another outbreak.
So now you have a plan on how you can treat a cold sore. Next time around you will be prepared to battle this vicious virus. Just remember to clean your hands thoroughly after you treat your wound and not spread this bugger. For more information on treating a cold sore, I suggest checking out Cold Sore Freedom in 3 Days written by Grace Melgarejo. This is a great resource on how to cure a cold sore, and that in only 3 days. Hope this helps!
Help For Cold Sores: Stress Relievers
Cold Sores, comes out when you least need and expects it. Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). This virus is not possible to get rid of when you first have gotten it, and it lies in your nerve system until its triggered. Its usually activated by things like a cold, stress, anxiety or extreme exposure to sunlight. Its important to notice that its not possible to completely remove the virus, but one can halt the amount of times that the virus shows up and how long it will stay for each time. Since stress is the number one trigger of the virus, Ive compiled a list of ten relievers of stress. Hope some of these works for you!
Put On Some Music
Music is the number one stress reliever for me. I myself love music and Ive played the drums for years, so I always start “air drumming” when some good music comes on. It can be any kind of music actually, just that it takes your thoughts elsewhere. Make it so that you stop thinking about that test at school that didnt go your way or the training you missed the other day. Its nothing you can do about that now, so live in the now.
Set Up A Spa At Your Home
Im a guy, and I gotta admit, a spa is great. Ive been to a spa at my local hotel once, and it literally changed my life. Making one at home is easy too. Just fill up your bathtub, make sure you are not disturbed in an hour, have some soothing music at hand and use some good bath products like bubbles and oils. This will make you drift away easily.
Dont Be Afraid To Cancel Appointments
Are you starting to stress out and are meeting some friends in an hour? Cancel it! If they really are your friends, theyll understand. If you need some time alone, just tell them so. You can always do something some other day and it will greatly reduce the chance of getting those pesky cold sores.
Try Solving The Rubiks Cube (insert random thinking game that you like)
This may not be for everyone, but I like to fiddle with the rubiks cube when Im feeling down or stressed out. It relieves my tension and my focus in entirely on the cube. This may not be for everyone, like my girlfriend who cant solve it, she then gets MORE stressed by trying it, but playing any kind of game is good. How about Bejeweled? That is one of my favorites on the internet. Just anything that makes your mind drift off.
Hope some of these tips were helpful, and if you would like more info on help cold for sores I suggest you check out Cold Sore Freedom in 3 Days by Grace Melgarejo which have helped thousands of people in being cold sore free for long periods of time.
